Soda Can Lid

Soda Can Lid

thingiverse

I created this after learning about individuals who narrowly escaped death from a wasp sting that entered their mouth while drinking from a can of soda. The solution is a lid that clicks onto a soda can with a rotating top lid, allowing you to open it when you want to drink and close it when you're not, keeping wasps and other pests out of reach. UPDATE: I added serrated edges for better grip when opening the can with your index finger, and slightly thicker connectors for increased strength (may require further updates). UPDATE 2: I modified the form of the connector to achieve a more secure connection. UPDATE 3: I added a solid bottom piece with the same "gripping teeth" missing, making it easy to clip on as requested by justinds89 in the comments. UPDATE 4: I designed version 2 with an even stronger connector. I successfully printed it using PolyMax PLA filament on my Ultimaker 3. Print Settings: Printer: Cubicon Single Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: 0.15 mm layer height Infill: 100% infill Notes: Printed upside down in Cubicon ABS, using a heated bed at 110 degrees Celsius and a nozzle temperature of 240 degrees Celsius. Post-Printing: Simply click the top lid onto the bottom lid, and then snap both lids onto an open can of soda. How I Designed This: I designed this project using Onshape (link to design files).
