Socrates (470-399 BC)

We can't be certain if any portrait of Socrates has survived over time. A statue erected by the Athenians in his honor, more than half a century after his passing, is the only confirmed representation of him that we have today. This statue was crafted by Lysippus, and it's possible that it accurately captured Socrates' likeness as he appeared during his lifetime. Notably, Plato and Aristotle had documented some distinctive physical characteristics that were later used to create ancient portraits of Socrates, which became widely disseminated throughout the ancient world, particularly during Roman times.
