Socket & tip for custom partial finger replacement
thingiverse
An updated design, dated 11/6/14, has been made with several improvements. The size of cable and bungee channels has been increased for better functionality. Additionally, the shape of the fingertip has been refined to enhance durability. To prevent fingers from bending backwards, the thickness and structure have been improved. Furthermore, bars have been added for securing cables and bungees. This is the first in a series of customizable devices designed for partial finger amputees missing more than half of their finger. The device can be adjusted to fit individual hand sizes. A PDF document with measurement guide and assembly instructions is available in the "files" section, all measurements must be in millimeters. The design comprises a socket that fits over the finger stump and an artificial fingertip. A video showcasing the device's usage can be viewed at http://youtu.be/WlfS02OAKcU. This is just a starting point, and designers are encouraged to experiment, remix, and enhance the design further. The design is part of E-Nable group's ongoing work.
