Socket Organization System
thingiverse
This is my socket organization project designed to utilize only the space required for the various sockets, as opposed to socket rails. It uses a standard centerpiece that all fit together with a dovetail and is directional. I'm not sure why I incorporated the directional factor, but I just ran with it. The "adapters" are printed as needed and will all fit in the universal centerpiece with a nice click once the layers intertwine. It's a tight enough fit to stay in place but loose enough that it can be taken apart. There is a stubby and post version (for tube sockets) for 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 sockets. I think I'm going to pursue making some bit holders and potentially socket wrench holders that fit this same system. Eventually it will roll into a puzzle-like grid system that can be modular. EDIT: I print the adapters so they're laying horizontal. This takes a little support, but it comes off easily. You could also print them vertically as they would sit in use, but I prefer the horizontal orientation so that the structure is perpendicular to the load.
With this file you will be able to print Socket Organization System with your 3D printer. Click on the button and save the file on your computer to work, edit or customize your design. You can also find more 3D designs for printers on Socket Organization System.
