If you've ever tinkered with socket 478 PCs, chances are you've had one of these heat sink retainers give out. I've swapped a few, but this time I spotted an Athlon II heat sink collecting dust that was begging to be reused (probably from around two years ago). I fashioned a tiny adapter to keep the critter firmly attached and it's been running smoothly for two weeks without a hitch. The enclosure serves as a server for a local LAN party and managed to stay under 26C throughout the entire night. I worried that it might get warm enough in there for the PLA to lose some of its structural integrity, but the final design performed like a pro.
