Take regular polygons and attach a single socket to each edge, one on the right or left of center. This yields eight different pieces from pentagons and fourteen from hexagons. After discarding those with four identical edges, you're left with six pentagonal and ten hexagonal pieces. Two sets of these pieces can be combined to create a soccer ball with matching edges, where R-sockets fit snugly into L-sockets. Ninety U-shaped profiles connect the polygons at their edges.
