Soccer Ball
grabcad
Here is a 3D model of a soccer ball created using SolidWorks: The soccer ball has a total of 12 pentagons and 20 hexagons that make up its surface. The ball's diameter is approximately 21.64 cm or 8.5 inches, with a circumference of about 68.58 cm or 27 inches. To create this model, I started by sketching the ball's shape on a plane using SolidWorks' built-in curve tools. I used the "Circle" tool to draw a circle that represented the cross-section of the ball at its equator. Then, I used the "Extrude" feature to extrude this circle into a 3D shape. Next, I created a series of pentagons and hexagons by sketching their shapes on separate planes. Each pentagon has five sides, while each hexagon has six sides. The total number of sides for all the polygons is equal to the number of panels on a real soccer ball. To assemble the model, I used SolidWorks' "Fillet" feature to round off the edges where the panels meet. This gave the ball its smooth, rounded shape. Finally, I added some texture to the model by applying a pattern of small triangles to each panel.
