Red granite figure of Sobkemsaf I Seventeenth Dynasty, about 1630 BC This royal statue is one of the few surviving from the Seventeenth Dynasty. The king's name is inscribed on the throne-front, and an apotropaic motif with figures of goffess Ipi decorates the rear. Dowel-holes in the eyebrows were used for fixing applied overlay and securing inlays in the eye-sockets. Pharaoh Sobkemsaf I performed extensive restoration works at the temple of Month[u] at Madamud.
