Soap Dish with Lid
thingiverse
This is my first post on Thingiverse! Be gentle with me :D\r\n\r\nI created a soap dish with a lid, a hex-shelf, and a drain hole. The goal was to design a soap dish that keeps out shower water when closed and prevents the soap from touching any water. The lid is secured by two hinges which work using two ball joints. A retaining notch in the front keeps the lid shut. On the right side, there's a drain hole to let the water out. \r\n\r\nThe hinge is designed to print separately and snap together afterwards (requires some force, but is secure). The tolerance of the hinge and notch are fairly small, so make sure your printer extrusion is well-tuned beforehand. I included the f3d file so anyone can redesign the tolerances or replace the text with whatever else. I printed this in PETG, but since this is a low-wear object, most regular filaments should be fine. I've printed this hinge with PLA before and it works just as well. Sorry for the poor pics; it's tough to photograph detail on a black print, I've learned!\r\n\r\nFuture plans: Create a smaller hex pattern for the shelf, add some texture for the bottom of the dish for grip. Maybe give it a more interesting texture on the sides, like ridges.
