Soap Dish

Soap Dish

thingiverse

This soap dish design has been on my mind every time I've seen a bar of soap break down in water, dissolving into the pool it was sitting in. Instead of trying to print this shape all at once, which would require extensive support and cleanup, I opted for printing each half separately - upper and lower. This approach eliminates the need for supports entirely and allows me to use ABS plastic with ease. After printing both halves, I bonded them together using acetone, then vapor-smoothed the resulting construct to create a surface that's not only smooth but also easy to clean. Given that a smooth exterior is key to this design, I found it best to print with a small layer height - roughly 0.1mm - and a moderately high infill percentage of between 30-50%. This combination produces a strong, durable piece that will withstand regular use in the bathroom.
