You'll find an updated version of my Pottery Barn soap dish in the images provided. Despite being broken multiple times, the original cannot be replaced as it has been discontinued. To create an unbreakable replacement, I utilized parametric modeling to avoid mesh-related issues. For printing, manufacture two halves that will later be glued together using ABS cement from the plumbing aisle. This cement is essentially acetone mixed with melted ABS plastic. Thin the cement with additional acetone and apply it to the dish for a smooth finish. Sand and fill any seams between the two halves, alternating between sanding and filling with a brush or dipping method. The ABS cement is ideal for filling gaps, while a thinner solution works better for smoothing. If you desire a color other than black, create your own cement by grinding ABS filament into shavings or powder, then mixing it with acetone. After gluing and smoothing, I finished this dish with multiple coats of white plastidip spray to achieve a sleek, slightly rubbery surface.
