I'm thrilled to finally share my interpretation of Snufkin/Snusmumriken, Moomintroll's best friend and a main character in Tove Jansson's beloved Moomins series. It's been a long time coming, but I'm so happy with how he turned out. He's got a fantastic design that really captures his essence. Creating Snufkin was a labor of love that took roughly a week to complete, although progress was slowed down significantly due to the power outages and wildfires that hit last week. As a result, my interpretation is a unique blend of his various incarnations from Moominvalley (2019) and Tanoshii Mumin Ikka (1990), with subtle nods to Opowiadania Muminków (1977 AKA Fuzzy Felt). His overall appearance draws heavily from 2019, but his color scheme, the feather in his hat, and the design of his clothes underneath his coat are inspired by 1990. The denim-like material of his jacket and the presence of pockets are nods to the 1977 stop-motion design. I also took some artistic liberties with his eyes and teeth to make them look more realistic and individualized. As with my other characters, Snufkin has high-resolution diffuse, normal, and roughness maps that ensure he looks great in any lighting situation. Unlike Little My, who relies on bone-driven shape key drivers for her facial rig, Snufkin's facial rig is made up of a more conventional weight-painted armature. Please note that this is the public release version of the model, and I've taken steps to prevent anyone from retrofitting it for rule 34 purposes.
