SnowFlakeSpinner
thingiverse
Hello! This design is inspired by a clever spinner and the six-sided symmetry of the snowflake. I created it all myself: I've designed the SnowFlakeSpinner. The complete model consists of three parts: 1. Base module, it's a simple snowflake with a hole in the center to hold a ball bearing. You can choose 623ZZ or 608ZZ type bearings. At the end of the six main arms, I added one spin mount to place the spinner module on it. 2. Spin module, it's also a simple snowflake with a hole in the center to hold a ball bearing. It's designed for only 623ZZ because of size. Near the end of its six arms, I added one hex nut (sized for M4 nuts). You should put these nuts in place to make the spinner heavier. 3. Table mount module, it's a small snowflake with a bearing mount in the center. You should put the base module on it. You can set some parameters in the BlocksCAD program. The radius, the bearing type, number of spinners, and printing tolerance are all adjustable if you need them. I've commented all the variables and modules and functions in the BlocksCAD program to help you understand the parameters. BlocksCAD build instructions: There's a Main module in the program with one parameter. After global parameter settings, you only need to use this parameter. If you plan to create one base snowplate and 3 or 6 snowspin spinning on it, and one base mount, you should call this block three times. 1. Parameter="base". Render, export the STL file and print once. 2. Parameter="spin". Render, export the STL file and print 3 or 6 times. 3. Parameter="mount". Render, export the STL file and print once. You'll need one base bearing + 3 or 6 spin bearings and M4 nuts six times the number of spinners. In addition, you can select: 4. "all". This is for viewing the whole model with all three types of modules incorporated. It's not printable. I've uploaded images of the rendered modules and the incorporated model too. The different modules have different colors, and the bearings are in green. I've also uploaded the generated STL files in a more parameterized version (bearing, spin number). Have a great spinning time!
