Snowflake Lantern LED light string or LED Votive Candle Holder A lamp or lantern with multicolored snowflakes. Made for a battery operated LED fairy light string, LED tealight or LED votive candle. Single panel snowflake covered design printed with a clear filament background layer wtih silver middle and white top layer. Each of the 4 panels is 140mm x 70mm with a 80 x 80mm base to help hold the panels square. The left and right edges are set to a 45° angle to create clean mitered corners. A base with a tiny village surround and a clear top cover for using with fairy light strings complete the design. The top is optional if using LED candles inside but works great to cover an LED light string from view. Print Settings Printer Brand: FlashForge Printer: Adventurer 3 Rafts: Yes Supports: No Resolution: .2 Infill: 100% (15% for Base) Filament: SunLu, GreenTech, Flashforge PLA Clear, Silk Silver, White Notes: Printed at .2 layer height, 4mm nozzle, 100% line infill and using a raft to assist in preventing warping on these thin flat prints. Using layer pauses to switch from clear background to snowflakes in silver and white with a white frame. On the print shown I was a little late with the color swap from clear to silver so the shorter snowflakes are clear. I don't mind it and you can adjust for this in your prints if you want denser appearing snowflakes. Also make it easier with only white or silver color changes instead of both. I was able to fit 2 panels side by side on my small 150mm print bed. I flipped the second panel for the first print then mirrored them both for the second set so I could get a more random looking snowflake design. For the solid white base I used default settings and infill, for the frosted top I set the infill to 100% line. Post-Printing Assembly required Putting together this lantern is as simple as glueing each edge of the panels to the adjacent ones. These are a 45° angle mitered joint and fit tightly together edge to edge. Personally I used a glue strip to stick them together as it was less messy or risk of glue seeping out. It also allows the lantern to be disassembled for flat storage after the holidays. Glue is optional for the base. I found it better without it so I could easy access the switch on the light string or LED candle. How I Designed This Inkscape and TickerCad I collected a snowflake PNGs from the internet. Brought into Inkscape where I then saved as individual SVG files and imported into Tinkercad. In Tinkercad I created the background as 1.5mm flat rectangles with a 3mm border, added the snowflakes at random, adjusted them all to random heights for layer pause color changes lining in the frame. I then created a 45° angle cut out for each of the long edges. Base option 4a was simple squares stacked with a repeating half circle stood up around the edge to give the panels a "trench" to stand up in. Base 4b I imported a clipart village, set the extrusion to 2mm, resized and replicated it around the base in place of the previous half circles.
