Snowflake, a hexagon chain mail

Snowflake, a hexagon chain mail

thingiverse

The object is a hexagonal chain mail design, where each chain is connected to three neighboring chains. It differs from typical quadrilateral forms by having fewer connecting neighbors. A triangular version also exists with less connections. The chain mails are considered ancestors due to their similar ideas. To use this specific design in OpenScad, adjust the parameters and resize the 20x20 mesh to fit your printer plate. Alternatively, remove certain elements using Meshlab for a single chain (sf_big_chain.stl). In Meshlab, select connected components, choose an element with the mouse, delete it, and repeat for other chains before exporting as desired format.
