Snow Gauge

Snow Gauge

thingiverse

We measured around six inches of snow here, and the news stations were claiming we only had about three inches - but since I didn't have a precise measurement tool to argue with, I built my own snow gauge instead! It stands thirteen inches tall with clear marks every single inch. I included the plain version as well as the embossed version, along with the original 123D design file for anyone who wants to create their own. Right now, I'm thinking of printing it in black and then painting the inch marks and numbers white. On the embossed model, the inch marks are positioned directly above the gauge itself - so if it's almost at three inches deep, you know you've got exactly three inches of snow! To make sure it stays secure, I designed the base to be bolted down firmly in place. If the entire gauge is completely covered, that means you're looking at over thirteen inches of snowfall - which just happens to be its full height.
