Snorkel PAPR v1.3
thingiverse
Doctors love the positive pressure and HEPA filtration of a PAPR unit to keep the 'rona off their faces. Building a whole PAPR hood from scratch seems like an insurmountable challenge. So let's build on Albert De Beir's @ BruBotics expertise and Delft University's research, and connect an EasyBreath snorkel mask to a PAPR respirator. There are multiple brands of hoses available, but the doctor I'm working with prefers to use a hose like this one: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4240755. Disclaimer: I have no idea what I'm doing, and this project is still in its infancy; I am not a medical professional, and this setup has yet to be tested. In fact, at the time of publishing version 1, I haven't even run a test print - that's coming soon. Revisions will follow as needed. Version history: 1.3: Internal supports were added, eliminating the need for an extra funnel. 1.2: The revised funnel shape appears to have solved the overhang problems; however, it does introduce an additional element - the funnel. 1.1: Overhangs were minimized. 1.0: The initial prototype was created. Search-happy keywords not otherwise used in this description include Corona, Coronavirus, COVID, COVID-19, PPE, Personal Protection Equipment, Decathalon, Mask, positive pressure, HEPA, and 3M.
