When side breathing switches are mounted in an enclosed cabinet, the switches tend to overheat because they end up rebreathing hot air from the servers in the same space. The snorkel and blanking panel extender set is intended to allow the switch to pull fresh air from the front of the cabinet, and the blanking panel shim helps box up the space behind the switch, making sure the airflow goes in the correct direction. The blanking panel shim is 19 inches and requires a large size printer to make.
