Snecma M88
thingiverse
The Snecma M88 is a twin-flux, post-combustion turbojet engine designed for the French combat aircraft Dassault Rafale by motor manufacturer Snecma (now Safran Aircraft Engines). The M88 engine delivers 50 kN thrust dry and 75 kN with post-combustion. Its fuel efficiency is 0.8 kg/(daN h) dry and 1.7 kg/(daN h) with post-combustion, respectively. It features a very advanced self-diagnostic system, which has led to significant improvements in engine availability, contributing to the technical maturity of the Rafale as per the commander of Flottille 12F1. Replacing an M88 engine can be done by three aircraft mechanics in one hour, whereas replacing a Snecma M53 engine on a Dassault Mirage 2000 requires half a day and a fixed point. This engine is part of several development programs: The M88-2 E4 program, announced by the Direction Générale de l'Armement (DGA) in 2003, introduces significant improvements that extend its lifespan and reduce maintenance costs. The M88 Pack CGP (Cost Global Possession), or M88-4E, relies on a study contract development production notified by DGA in 2008 and aims to introduce technical improvements to lower the cost of maintenance.
