Snap-together Sphere
cults3d
I made a simple sphere from three interlocked rings one day to demonstrate the entire process to a friend. The dimensions of the rings provided in the STL files are 60mm outer diameter, 20mm height and 3mm thickness. They were generated with one face every 2mm of the perimeter and also feature a gap of 0.4mm in the slots, which resulted in a nice fit for the rings printed by bot1334. The zip file contains two additional examples: 40mm diameter, 5mm and 10mm height, and reportedly 2mm thickness. However, I did not use any "gap" parameter for these models, so they will require some cleaning to fit properly. UPDATE: The OpenSCAD file has been replaced with v3 version which fixes a bug in the tolerances between rings. I would like to thank foofoodog for pointing this out!!
