A game-changing snap-together spool makes quick work of eSun's "Refillament." It's frustrating that every time you buy filament, you're left with an absurd non-recyclable polystyrene spool destined for the garbage dump and a landfill somewhere. Repurposing them as storage containers or wheels is initially charming but becomes overwhelming with each growing stack of empty black husks. I've successfully printed several rolls of eSun's loose PLA on this spool without any issues. It spins freely, doesn't get snagged, and the little holes make it easy to store the filament when not in use. You'll need 2 disks and 3 snap hooks for assembly. The hooks should be printed upright (as shown in the photos) so the flex fingers are flexing in the correct plane. Print at 100% infill because everything is essentially flat, making it a no-brainer. I've also included the Fusion 360 file if you want to resize it for your preferred filament.
