Snap on Landing Gear for 16mm Square Arms
thingiverse
This landing gear snaps securely onto 16mm or 5/8" square stock, just like the chrome towel bars available at Home Depot or the sturdy 5/8" wood stock. It is designed in two interchangeable pieces to enable swapping out the legs if a crash occurs or different lengths are desired. The medium-length strut stands about 4 inches tall. Plans are underway to create additional lengths, or users can modify the source files to craft their own custom designs. The v2 arm clamp features built-in cleats for wrapping rubber bands securely around it, providing an added attachment point. In contrast, the author now flies with a later model and finds this feature unnecessary. Meanwhile, the bare arm clamp serves as a useful option for attaching ESCs or lights while remaining easily removable. All printed parts can be created without supports, and a recommended setup is using ABS at a .2 layer height with 2 or more shells, and an infill percentage of at least 50% for optimal results.
