Snap-Hinge
thingiverse
This is a versatile pivot hinge that doesn't rely on pins or screws. I envision metal hardware being the ideal choice, but nails can also work as temporary pins to keep the two parts securely in place. Attach the rail to whatever you want to hinge together, then slide the SNAP-HINGE into position and secure it with screws, rivets, or bolts. Connect the pin that holds the two hinge parts together, followed by attaching the opposing side of the hinge to its corresponding part. This hinge measures 50.50 x 13.59 x 34.96 mm in size. I designed this pivot specifically for a different project I'm currently working on; you can find more information about it here. To achieve optimal results, I recommend printing with solid infill. Under normal conditions, this should support loads of up to 2-3 lbs, although weight will vary based on factors such as size and filament used, as well as the scale at which it's printed. This design can be printed using PLA, Nylon, or other materials; use your best judgment when applying it to your own projects.
