Snap cube, Kawai Joint, Interlocking, Math

The snap cube is incredibly useful and has a mathematically appealing design. I couldn't help but wonder why not combine the two in one seamless design? That's exactly what happened: a single 20mm^3 piece that incorporates both a snap cube and Kawai joint, essentially two halves of a 20mm^3 cube. They are designed to be fairly loose, making it easy for kids to assemble or disassemble them on their own. There is also a mirrored version available in case you need an extra one. A pair of Kawai joints comes included to support even more open-ended construction opportunities. Obviously, the snap cubes allow for smooth rotation while the Kawai joints provide rigid linear and perpendicular connections. When combined, they enable kids to build a wide variety of constructions. All it takes is printing out a batch of these pieces and leaving them with a group of third or fourth graders - just watch how quickly they get creative! Thanks for stopping by and exploring this innovative design.
