Snap Circles, Oloid Base Model

Snap Circles, Oloid Base Model This innovative design builds upon a previous oloid base model by introducing a new concept. By connecting two circles, an oloid is formed, but what if we take it further? Adding more snapping cuts to a circle creates a shape that grows exponentially in space, essentially becoming a fractal. Through experimentation and trial-and-error, I discovered three connectors placed 120 degrees apart work exceptionally well. The result is a stunning wheel-like structure that showcases the potential of this design (see accompanying figures). Each circle has a diameter of 50 mm, with a carefully calculated tolerance that allows each to touch the center of another, creating a seamless and harmonious union.
