SNAKEZ

Snakez are an exceptionally flexible and fun print-in-place design that can be easily printed using a 3D printer. They should be ready to move freely right off the build plate, as soon as the raft is removed, without needing any support. Additionally, they don't use a lot of filament. People are often amazed by the range of movement in these prints. Snakez can twist and turn in all directions, even curling up in the palm of your hand. This single-piece print showcases what you can accomplish with a 3D printer and clever design. In addition to being super flexible, Snakez also feature retractable fangs that move back and forth within a channel but won't fall out. Most importantly, Snakez are fun... Five STL files have been provided: one is straight (approximately 177mm long), the others have each section curved to help them fit on smaller build plates (134mm long). The third option is a Key Fob version that has been shortened by five links (118mm long), making it more practical and usable as the reduced length helps avoid tangling or breaking. The fourth file is the 'Long Snakez' file, which is approximately double the standard Snakez length so a 'long 350mm.' The print length is just 144mm because it is curved quite tightly... this should print okay on most well-set-up and precise machines, but it may result in fused joints on some machines. The last option is the 'Circle Tight' version, which is designed to print on very small build plates. The length is the same as the regular 'Snakez' file, but the file is curved to a greater degree to form a half-circle and minimize the print area required. However, this also means clearances have been slightly reduced, which could cause issues on less precise or accurate machines. This has been test-printed and worked fine. Print lots of Snakez in your favorite colors. They make fun little creatures that can be placed around your house, office, workshop, or even in your car. Snakez also make great gifts because they don't use much filament but the print time is longer than many other small prints due to the detail in the linkages and so on. Printing Snakez is easy. A raft is recommended, but do not use support as this could fuse the linkages together, causing them not to move after printing. Using three shells and 50% infill is also suggested to ensure that the fine linkages are strong and will withstand a lifetime of being wriggled. Print lots... have fun with your Snakez and post images! Please refer to the instructions and images for additional information. Note: If you like this, check out my other fun and practical designs.
