Snake Pit, a packing puzzle by Yavuz Demirhan Pack eight pieces into a rectangular box with an obstructed opening. When the puzzle is properly solved, all the pieces will fit entirely within the box and not protrude through the opening. One of the photos shows several pieces placed inside the box. This clever design will appeal to both novice and experienced puzzlers. There are three STL files. Print four copies of the file containing the two puzzle pieces (for a total of eight pieces) and one copy each of the box and cap. The cap and box are modeled separately so that the puzzle can be printed without supports. After printing, attach the cap to the box before attempting to solve the puzzle. To attach the cap, put a drop of glue into each of the four guide holes on the cap, and fit the four raised cylinders on the box into them. Ordinary superglue works great with PLA filament. The box is square and symmetrical, so any orientation will work fine. Once the glue is dry, you're ready to go! The puzzle is modeled using Puzzlecad, and I have included the .scad file in case you want to remix it and change the size, tolerance, or beveling. Make sure it's in the same folder as puzzlecad.scad.
