Snake Head
thingiverse
I built this to deter squirrels that keep digging up my garden and gnawing on my tomatoes. The figure in the picture is a severed plug with its head chopped off. The wire has an 8 mm diameter, so I made the hole at the back of the head 8.4 mm. I don't expect most people to have a wire exactly that size, so I've uploaded my 123D Design file and an X3D version so you can customize the hole's size. The red and yellow stripes are electrical tape, and the pattern is similar to the highly venomous coral snake's markings. (If you want it to be more accurate, the yellow should be thin stripes on either side of a thick red stripe.) This snake seems to be working well at keeping squirrels away from my garden, but I've been moving it around and changing its body position frequently. If you don't do that, they'll quickly figure out it's not real and go back to tearing up your garden.
