Snake Cube Puzzle Large 4x4 or Small 3x3
thingiverse
A few weeks ago I stumbled upon a snake puzzle consisting of a chain of square wooden blocks, which when twisted and bent correctly, resulted in a perfect 3x3x3 cube. I decided to research and create the next level up, a 4x4x4 cube from a 64-block snake! This thing needs to be printed twice, ideally in opposing colors, then assembled with a long string or better still an elastic cord. **UPDATE:** I've just realized that printing this thing once gives you the right number of cubes to make the 3x3 cube, so I've included info for that one too now. The end pieces are designed so that a knot can be tied in the end of the string and then the cap glued on to completely hide the knot. Once you have all the cubes printed - there will be a few spares left over just in case you have a faulty one, or you lose one etc. If you print it at the size drawn, the individual cubes will be 15mm and you'll need about 1 meter of string or elastic cord. Feel free to enlarge or reduce the size as you wish - just ensure both colors are printed exactly the same size! To thread the cubes, thread an end piece and knot it into the end cap. Then with alternating colors assemble it as follows: they're arranged in groups of three just to make it easier to see and keep track when you're threading them. And there are a couple of pictures so you can check your progress - you'll be starting at the right-hand side of the picture.
