Snake cube (parametric)
thingiverse
After designing printable Rubik's cubes, my next project was a snake cube - a puzzle that forms a larger cube when solved. However, epideath uploaded his design to Thingiverse before I could create mine. When printing it, my Cupcake CNC's detail limitations led me to design my own snake cube version. My code is simple, with parametric settings for size and thickness adjustments. The 3x3x3 version requires two ends, nine Is, and sixteen Ls, while the 4x4x4 needs two ends, seventeen Is, and forty-five Ls. I printed a mini snake cube, measuring 10x10x10mm cubies, and uploaded a plate with all pieces for a 3x3x3 cube. For stringing, I used strong and stretchy polyurethane. Assembling required patience due to the tiny holes. Using a paper clip helped with L pieces. Post-printing, I cleared plastic holes with a small screwdriver. Maybe someone will attempt a 5x5x5 version next!
