Snails and slugs, which include a vast array of gastropods, fall under the enormous taxonomic class of invertebrates known as Gastropoda within the phylum Mollusca. This massive class encompasses not just snails and slugs from saltwater environments, but also those found in freshwater habitats and on land. Thousands upon thousands of species of sea snails and slugs thrive alongside freshwater snails, limpets, and a wide variety of land-dwelling snails and slugs.
