Snail Pull Toy
thingiverse
The students' design, created by Olivia, Katie, and Madyson for a multi-part 3D design project, showcased their creative skills in Drafting & Design 11. Drawing inspiration from this original design on Thingiverse - http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:24442, they came up with their own unique take on a snail pull toy. The primary objective was not to refine the existing design but to bring something entirely new to life. Their snail design features a distinct hole in each wheel for the axle, deliberately offset to mimic an inchworm's characteristic bounce. However, the team encountered a technical hurdle: the wheels lacked sufficient friction, causing them to rotate poorly on the ground. To resolve this issue, they experimented with applying additional materials such as tape to increase traction. Throughout their project, the students utilized advanced computer-aided design software like AutoCAD and Solid Edge St8. Not only have we shared the STL files but also the corresponding .par files in Solid Edge for reference and further customization purposes.
