The SMOS Dex dock lacks Ethernet connectivity, but this can easily be resolved with a USB-to-Ethernet adapter if needed. In contrast, the Samsung Dex Dock has limitations when used in conjunction with a phone case, making the smaller SMOS Dex dock a more practical choice. This dock also provides support to the backside of the phone, ensuring that the device's USB port remains safe from potential damage. I'm currently using a Spigen Air Case with mine and can confirm that it works seamlessly with this setup.
