The first revision of the smoothieboard case is complete, despite it being a work in progress. The case features mounting slots for two 40mm fans and m3 nuts at the bottom for standoffs. Brass with a thickness of 9.5mm was used for construction, while paper washers were utilized as spacers. However, the lid design is still underway, with plans to incorporate slots for power, steppers, thermistors, and endstops. For those interested in modifying the case, step and IGES files are available. Recently, an additional fan mount and ethernet slot were added to the design, along with enhanced accessibility for microSD cards. The case has proven effective at managing airflow, thanks to its three fans, ensuring that the Smoothieboard stays cool even during heavy use. To print the case, ABS is recommended, and two provided files offer options with or without rabbit ear extensions to minimize warping. For optimal results, MatterControl (MatterSlice) should be used, although support may be necessary depending on the printer's bridging capabilities.
