In the DIY world, cleaning 3D printed parts can be a hassle. One solution is to use a paint can with rocks and let it soak for hours. However, if gravel doesn't work for you, consider trying walnut shells instead. For those who don't want to spend on a rock tumbler, this low-cost method is a great alternative. A video demonstration is available at http://youtu.be/GwR-Y1e6QFQ. The Rev 1.0 version of the DIY solution includes parts from Home Depot and American Science & Surplus (ASS). The required parts are: 3/8" x 36" Round Rod - Aluminum, 1 1/2" x 2' PVC Pipe Section, 2" x 15 ft. Step and Ladder Tread Tape, a roll of duct tape, two 1 Qt. Metal Paint Buckets with Lids, a 45 RPM 6VDC Motor with 1/8" Shaft from ASS, and a 6.5VDC Switching Power Supply. The printing settings are 2 shells, 20% infill, and .3mm layers. You'll need one Frame_Front or Frame_Front_Half_Width, one Frame_Back, four Roller_End_Caps, one Motor_Housing, four PVC_Bushings, one Motor_Gear, one Roller_Gear, and four Can_Fins_Insert (two per can) for assembly.
