Smithsonian Engine Kit Replacement Crankshaft

Smithsonian Engine Kit Replacement Crankshaft

thingiverse

This is my custom design inspired by the crankshaft of the Smithsonian Motor-Works Model Engine. I was running my own engine at around 1500 rpm when a valve suddenly dropped, causing half of the crank to shatter into pieces - this is the replacement I'm currently printing out. Since I'm in the middle of printing it right now, some improvements are yet to be made. Printed horizontally with a 100% infill and 10% support material on my Anet A8 3D printer, which was placed at a 45-degree angle on the print bed so that it could print both with and against the grain. The same engine is featured in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQVciy5ObMg
