Smith Corona Carriage Release Handle
thingiverse
A collection of typewriters has taken over my home. Many of them require repair. I crafted this replacement handle or lever for the carriage release on my Smith Corona Galaxie, which was missing one handle. This same handle is used on numerous Smith Corona models from the 1960s and later, so hopefully it will help someone else. It's my first "curvy" design. It's not perfect, nor a precise replica, but it's close and works perfectly. Both left and right sides use the same part; it just slides on and off. To look amazing, I printed it in ABS and then applied a light coat of acetone with a cue tip, after which it shines beautifully. In the photos, the middle one is original (1964), while the two new ones (so they match) are left and right.
