SMI Air Force 1 LED light holder for JEEP JKU
thingiverse
I pull a Jeep 4-down behind a Diesel Motorhome, relying on its auxiliary brake system for air braked coaches, specifically the Air Force One by SMI Manufacturing, which alerts me that my towed vehicle's brakes are being applied with an LED light strip in the rear view monitor while driving. Unfortunately, this strip often fails due to a small Velcro self-adhesive strip stuck to the back of the rear view mirror in the towed vehicle, which melts under sun exposure. This 3D printed part holds the LED light strip at the very top of the windshield of my Jeep Wrangler, designed specifically for its trim/windshield geometry. I use 3M VHB tape to fasten this holder to the top trim piece just above the windshield, keeping it horizontally and neatly out of the way. Before printing this part, I tried refastening my Velcro or using blue painters tape to hold the LED light strip against the windshield, but that often failed. This will be a much more reliable way to get proper reporting of the braking system from my towed vehicle. If you own a Jeep and have the Air Force One brake system installed in it, feel free to use this design or remix it to fit your towed vehicle's geometry.
