SMD cassette rail remix
thingiverse
I was thrilled with the original SMD storage system created by Robin7331, but I lacked one crucial component - foam to place in the base of the Rail system that provides a gentle upward pressure on the SMD cassettes to keep them firmly in place. To solve this problem, I took the fusion360 file and added a small leg that exerts enough pressure to hold the cassettes securely.\r\n\r\nYou can clearly see in the last photo how the legs are pressing upwards on the mounted SMD cassettes; the cassettes actually compress the legs by between 0.5-1.0mm.\r\nI also made a few modifications, including adding some cutouts to minimize material usage and mounting screw holes for easy installation. Additionally, I added a couple of tabs at one end so that two rails can be connected together seamlessly.\r\n\r\nI print these two at a time in the upright position (as seen in the photo), using a Raft as an extra precaution to prevent detachment during printing. Furthermore, I add supports everywhere to ensure stability. To achieve speed rather than beauty, I set my layer height to 0.28mm.\r\n\r\nI hope this modification proves useful for someone; it merely enhances Robin7331's exceptional design to suit my needs more perfectly.\r\n\r\nThe SMD cassettes featured are the remixed version of Robin's by MacroYau, available here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3997344\r\n\r\nEnjoy!
