I didn't like any existing designs to motor-mount a direct extruder of a usual kind to an (8mm rod version) smarttrap core so I decided to do a nice rigid carriage for my "Bmg Aero" (Trianglelab's hybrid, not really a clone). Loosely based on the seemingly good [8mm Carriage by RyanDGarrison](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1953419) because I'm too lazy to bother re-doing something that's already good. Also huge thanks to RaptorHunter for his [this](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4226245) <img src="https://sun9-20.userapi.com/c856128/v856128076/24fb67/dZLqAL7cZyI.jpg" alt="alt text" title="~370g with no bearings. Yikes!" /> The result is pretty heavy, at least the way I printed it with massive wall count, but also it's deadly rigid. Smarttrap core itself is too weak to allow decent speeds anyway, as even reinforced bed wobbles badly if you try to go fast. Keep in mind I don't use original endstop arrangement, that's why there's an adjustable trigger on the back side. There's an alternative STL included with a mounting hole I found in original carriage whatever it does. Another thing I need to mention: this cooling duct is useless. I've tried and failed, it didn't even print properly and then I decided I won't even bother with it anymore for now sorry C:\ Anyway, things you'd need: -Trianglelabs' Bmg Aero (some other extruders might also work but why would you do that?) with a motor, the thin one preferably. -40mm axial fan -5015 centrifugal/turbine fan -Screws (extruder/motor ones have to be a din 912): 1x M4x20 3x M3x12 1x M3x30 3x M3x40 1x M3x55 (wtf?) -Nuts: 2x M3 -Optional: M3 shims, there's no place for more then 4 of them apparently. This nut might be a little tight to fit, pliers will help you. Put the 30mm (25mm if no trigger flap is used) screw through the trigger flaps and your carriage, get the bearings in, yet don't get it fully tightened this until it's placed on a gantry and proved to move freely. <img src="https://sun9-32.userapi.com/c856128/v856128076/24fb7b/2OattIwLfJY.jpg" alt="alt text" title="Here it is in the middle!" /> The next thing you wanna do is this nut. It's supposed to be secured by a 40mm screw and a radiator wall so you don't have to hold it when the screw is torqued. However, you should place the motor (40mm screws under the fan as shown) and THEN tighten everything even. Then do 55 and 12 mm screws to hold your axial fan. Nice. You can now put it on your printer, glide it around and tighten the bearings, put the belts on and equip the duct of misery with 12 and 8+ mm screws one of each. Blower is then very tightly fits on top, but you may want to secure it with an M4 screw (you can see I broke the hole on mine, but I've fixed it later.) <img src="https://sun9-20.userapi.com/c856128/v856128076/24fb71/a53e8adTZEI.jpg" alt="alt text" title="I hate this duct" /> Now you can waste even the most demanding types of filaments with no effort! Yay!
