Updates 09/07/2016: After one year of production, a global update sets up the printer in 4 plates ready for printing. This is the bowden version. A direct extruder version also exists on Onshape. 11/12: XY_bearings_R are fixed now. 11/7: Ramps support is internal and there's a little less plastic to print, making new printed cubes with 3 holes that can hold 3 m3x20 screws, as solid as aluminium versions. 10/23: BOM has been added. Sorry for the delay. 10/06: A new motor support has been added to the right side, aligning it better and consistently with the left one, while also incorporating some changes in all models to facilitate ease of assembly. 09/18: A bigger pulley_608 hole is available, along with smooth Xrod_support and endstop. New XY_bearings_LR can make assembly easier, and add a slit on Z_slide plus bigger nuts hole on Y_Slide_LR. 09/16: An idler_pulley has been added along with new XY_bearings R L. 08/27: The scalu_Y_rod_motor_support_R is now complete. The latest SmartrapCore evolution is the SmartrapCore ALU. Now, aluminium profiles are widely used and mainstream, allowing for a modern look and ease of assembly thanks to hammer nuts. Aluminium provides excellent stability in time. Like all our designs, this model is full, active, open source, and you're welcome to build one. Assembly documentation can be found on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQFCcp26U0U&list=PLOC55t9dY7y94dfJ4VI-5qbKi7heZsKoJ A real-time 3D model is available on Sketchfab, which is very useful for assembly. We are currently working on putting all screws and accessories inside the model, so eventually you would only need that to assemble the printer: https://sketchfab.com/models/10d76d1f459f489ab546df174f1a9d0b This model was designed using Onshape CAD software. We found this new solution perfect for sharing our open designs. Everyone with a little learning path will be able to copy, modify simple things, or make new accessories using the CAD software. The Smartrapcore standard remains active and you can find the updated version in the very same Onshape document. Only the openjscad version won't be updated.
