SmartRap Mini 2 5/26/19 Update A problem with one z-axis mount on the x-axis plate was fixed. This part was not fully flat on the plate, causing trouble when trying to print the whole plate. If you are building a SmartRap 2, please leave a comment in the comments section. Thanks, Joe 3/30/19 Update A problem with the flex extruder was fixed after more tests of the plate prints and assemblies. The inner dia on the exit side was too large, causing feeding frustrations as the filament would hang on the lip of the brass fitting. The antiwobble part was added to the Y-plate, and the bearing standoff on the Y-plate was made 1mm taller to avoid interference fit issues. All cad files were rezipped and relabeled. 1/12/19 Update The manual was revised with GT2 belt info, Marlin, and stepper setup info. More links were added. Revised Plates were created by removing the Ramps base, adding GT2 parts, and reorganizing to be 3 plates. This should only take about 15hrs of print time now. The zip file now contains all Marlin configs for 1.1.7, 1.1.8, and 1.1.9 12/28/18 Update A PDF SmartRapMini2 Manual was added. Updated plate STLs were created. Revised several parts for better Z support, fit, and function. 04/11/2018 Update The extruder block in base-parts was fixed. The screw mount holes in the base were too small. The zip package was updated also. 04/08/2018 Update A missing y-endstop bracket was added. Plastic bushings for the plate were added. These are rod bushings from Thingiverse. Revised: x-hotend-base, to mount line above simple switch if that is chosen. The website was updated. Plastic Parts kits and screw kits are available. Initial Update An update and revision of a classic RepRap design was created. Started by Smarfriendz, this design evolved for a few years then seemed to disappear. I liked the minimalist design concept and tried to make one. But the many revisions and spinoffs left many confused as to what parts were needed for which version. So I picked up as many parts as I could find and began to piece it together. When many pieces did not have CAD files, I redrew them in SolveSpace and began to tinker. So now all but a handful of parts have new CAD files. These are included in the zip file. SolveSpace is free, open, and small. http://solvespace.com/index.pl The "version 2" here uses an E3Dv6 clone hotend, fishing line, RAMPS 1.4, and linear bearings on steel rods. GT2 parts are included. This printer is a nice design, unheated bed, about 50mm/s maybe 60mm/s with good tuning. It is easily expanded to take a heated bed if you upgrade the power supply. The design here will yield a plate printed area of 160mmx220mmx200mm. Fishing line limits the max plate to 220x220x200mm. GT2 belt will allow for larger sizes. Find more info, parts, and lists on my website, https://sites.google.com/view/orbitalair/home I am also on RepRap Forums. The STL files in download are plates. The zip file contains plates and all individual STL parts and CAD files.
