The Smartpot pedal is a traditional-style design that hangs from under the dashboard and is driven by two pieces separated by a spring, ensuring no damage to the pot during movement. The housing may or may not require modification; if necessary, a plate can be welded for attachment. Slots allow slight rotation to adjust pedal play. Covering parts protect the Smartpot from debris and maintain grease retention. The design is simple, utilizing standard steel shapes and stampings with common welding operations. The pedal's motion is limited by the bumper above and the floorboard below, and both the Smartpot and entire pedal box can be easily removed. The actual foot-contact pedal is basic, unrelated to the Smartpot mechanism. Mild steel materials are used for components such as brackets, D shaft, and mounting plates, while GFRP materials make up the cam and caps. Rubber bumpers provide necessary cushioning. Assemblies include the Cam Assy (cam and D shaft), Mount Bracket Assy (bracket tube and mount bracket), Pedal Mount Assy (mount bracket and pedal mount), and Pedal Rod Assy (pedal rod and bracket). Spring Cap, Pot Cap, and Smartpot house the Cam Assy, while the Pedal Rod Assy slides through the main spring and fastens with a push nut. Custom names are given to each assembly for easy identification during assembly.
