The phone/tablet podium is built sturdy so the device can be easily picked up and put back down without having to unplug it. Its design was originally conceived for my wife, an app developer, while she's debugging on her iPhone 6 or iPad Mini. However, this versatile stand works well with a wide range of devices even when they're encased in bulky protective cases. You may want to add some rubber feet to prevent the podium from sliding around when you press the buttons.
