thingiverse
Mount your smartphone on your car's vents with this versatile mount, specifically designed for my HTC 8X phone. I created the design in Onshape CAD using parametric dimensions, making it easy to customize for other phones. Print Settings Printer: PowerSpec Ultra Rafts: No Supports: Yes Resolution: 0.20 mm Infill: 20% hexagons Notes: PRINT OPTIONS: slice engine - Slic3r, material - PLA, resolution - standard, skirt, use editable supports LAYERS: layer height - 0.20 mm, first layer height - 0.30 mm, number of shells - 3 INFILL: fill density - 20%, fill pattern - hexagon SPEED: print speed - 80 mm/s, support speed - 80 mm/s, travel speed - 120 mm/s TEMPERATURE: left extruder - 220 deg C, platform - 70 deg C OTHERS: enable cooling fan - yes, overhang threshold - 45 deg Post-Printing For a snug fit, consider subtracting 1mm of extra tolerance from the phone's depth. Alternatively, add rubber bands to secure your phone and prevent rattling. You could also install a rubber pad on the back of the mount for added grip. Design Inspiration The 4-pronged holder was inspired by the Kenu Airframe mount design. I tailored the side and bottom tabs to fit my HTC 8X Windows Phone perfectly, leaving enough space for a standard micro USB cable through the cutout in the bottom tab. Design Tools I used Onshape CAD to create this mount, making it easy to modify parameters to fit other phones.
