This is a custom-designed mount specifically tailored for the SmartHalo. The factory mount necessitates extensive grinding and modification to accommodate the 35mm fat bars commonly found on high-end mountain bikes. Simply reuse the steel mounting plates and screws that came with the SmartHalo, then secure them using lock nuts. The cutouts for these nuts are precisely designed to be just large enough to fit a flat-head screwdriver or needle-nose pliers, allowing you to hold the nut firmly in place while tightening it. This clever design makes it virtually impossible for a thief to loosen the screws without removing the SmartHalo altogether. As a result, this custom mount retains the security of the factory design while providing even greater stability and peace of mind. Noticeably, the unit no longer slides around on the bars as easily as before, eliminating the need for rubber pads or tape. This mount fits perfectly on 35mm mountain bike bars with stems narrower than 50mm. If you have a wide stem like the RaceFace Turbine, consider using the Wide_ version of this custom mount instead.
