SmartGun M56 - Full size

M56 Smart Gun from the movie Aliens and over a hundred games. I've divided this into several sections so that those without 1.2 megabyte print beds can still create one. With proper alignment, it should fit on a 220mm cubed build area. This is not a perfect model - I made it primarily to learn Blender and a few parts have poorly assembled meshes, but they should all be printable. As the photos show, I've printed and assembled an entire gun full size. If memory serves me correctly, the main issue was the fore grip which has some mostly internal voids (I've just reworked this and it should now be fine). The aft firing grip has a thin skin over the firing lever receiving hole but the correct space is underneath. Some of the section location lugs and recesses may need filing or sanding to size or require filler. The handles are bare and designed to accept foam bike grips which should fit snugly and then be held in place. I've designed the main stress points to have bores for reinforcing rods. You could assemble one purely for display without these but I doubt it would hold up to being swung around like Vasquez and Drake. I used 8mm glass fibre tent poles (and they were a very tight fit) where the fore grip meets the body, with two reinforcing rods meeting at ninety degrees and should be shaped to fit snugly before gluing together. The firing lever is designed to be fitted with a bolt and a spring attached to tiny self-tapping screws to allow it to operate. Finally, the oval cover piece goes on top to hide the parts. I hope the photos and complete model file will provide enough guidance for anyone who wants to build one, excluding rods, bolts, springs, screws, and wires but you should be able to work those out. Keep in mind that if everything goes smoothly it's a very long print - some of the individual pieces took several days on my printer. Ignore the Turnigy sticker on one photo - it was for a competition and is not present on the print model. Thanks go to BulldogUK who pointed out a couple of missing pieces and a flawed part joint (now hopefully sorted!). Cheers, mate!
