SmartBoxRAP 6"

Over the last five years, I've been developing various RepStrap versions of Darwin and Mendel to create simple methods for building self-replicating printed machines without a 3D printer. As part of my start-up business T3DT, I'm creating an affordable series of laser-cut flat pack technology kits that can be assembled at Fab Labs, hacker groups, or schools worldwide. The SmartBoxRap 6" is the result of this experience and features auto bed leveling, belt drive, bowden extruder, J-Head_Lite, heated bed, removable print plate, and a true 6" cube print volume. The build time is approximately 1-2 hours and requires assembling over 50 screws. Key dimensions include a build plate of 160mm x 170mm, a heated bed of 160mm x 160mm, and a build volume of 152.4mm x 152.4x 152.4 or a 6" cube. The instructions for assembly are designed with a laser cutter kerf size of 0.175mm and recommend using 3mm MDF or PLY, though Perspex has not been tested. Instructables and the T3DT website will provide detailed instructions for assembly, along with other projects I'm working on. Check back soon for updates!
