Smart phone, Iphone minimalistic car holder using Velcro

Everybody has bought one of these heavy, clumsy, fragile universal car smartphone holders. While driving a rental car in sunny California two years ago, I had to purchase one myself. I prefer using my Smartphone GPS, but unfortunately, it kept falling due to the poor suction cup and overheating issue. I tried mounting it in the vent, but almost broke the vent while struggling to install and remove the smartphone. Overall, it was a pain to use and store in your bag. Back home, I decided that I needed something effective and simple that could be carried everywhere. Note that using the vent is fine, except during winter, when you should watch for heat buildup. The part should be made with PETG or ABS plastic, which requires good degreasing for proper adhesion. You should use the type of self-grip seen in the picture instead of regular Velcro, as it holds better. On the smartphone, stick a 10x20 piece about the center. I've been using it from Texas to Ontario and in Europe on different rentals over the last two years without any issues. If you drive aggressively, consider placing a rubber band around the longer part to limit sliding. The profile could be designed to fit some typical vents, but so far, I have found this design to be acceptable. Make a few of these universal car smartphone holders and keep them in your travel bags, so you'll never miss one when you need it. This device can even be used as a stand for your smartphone.
