Smart Phone Adaptive Otoscope
myminifactory
This is an innovative smartphone-enabled otoscope prototype, created using a smartphone, a readily available disposable camera lens, and a camera app, which can transform this 3D-printed component into a functional otoscope. An otoscope is a crucial medical tool used by healthcare professionals to visually inspect the ear canal or eardrum. Please note that this device is not a regulated medical instrument; only licensed medical professionals are qualified to make diagnoses. The clip and scope components of this otoscope can be assembled from two separate pieces. The clip requires support during printing, as does the scope if it's designed to accommodate a lens. Both parts must be printed at 100% infill for optimal results. To achieve better image quality, consider using a darker filament or coating the interior of the scope with black paint. The disposable camera lens used in this design was sourced from a standard camera and fits snugly into the designated slot on the scope. The cost of purchasing this lens is approximately $9. In contrast, printing both components costs around $0.18.
